For this project Eworks partnered with another consulting firm to remove and dispose of solvent contaminated soil discovered during a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), and install a soil vapor extraction (SVE) system to prevent harmful chemicals from entering the interior of the buildings.  Contaminants of primary concern were TCE and PCE, which are known carcinogens.  This work was completed with excavation equipment under very tight access and strict safety protocols.  The hazardous waste was then transported to the Arlington, Oregon Waste Management facility for proper treatment and disposal.  This project was completed very quickly in order to get the businesses operational.  A temporary high vacuum pump system was installed followed by a more permanent inline duct fan to depressurize the soil under the slab and eliminate vapor intrusion to indoor air.
