Is There Only One Way to Repair a Sewer Line?

Various methods and strategies can be used to repair a sewer line, and the one that’s best for you will depend on the nature and location of the damage and the materials your pipes are made of.

Your sewer line repair options include:

  • Traditional repair: This involves digging a trench along the length of the damaged sewer line to access the pipe, removing the damaged portion, and replacing it with a new pipe.
  • Trenchless pipe lining: Also known as Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP), this method involves inserting a resin-coated flexible tube into the damaged pipe, inflating it to fit tightly against the pipe's inner walls, and then curing the resin to form a new pipe within the old one.
  • Pipe bursting: This trenchless method involves pulling a new pipe through the old one while simultaneously fracturing the old pipe outward. It's a great option when the existing pipe is too damaged for relining.
  • Point repair: For localized damage, a small hole can be dug to access the damaged part of the pipe, which is then replaced or repaired.

Each option has its own benefits and drawbacks, so it's important to consult with a professional from Environmental Works to determine the best solution for your situation.
